Learn From the Pain of My Two-Year Break

After a decade of coaching women on the internet, I took over two years off from 2021-2023.

Taking two years off from anything is a really long time.

Truthfully, I lost a lot of momentum (I don't regret the time away as I had some amazing adventures; these are just the facts). I went from 3k Instagram followers to having a little over a hundred today. I went from whipping out emails and blog posts in a matter of minutes to staring at a blank screen for thirty minutes trying to figure out what to say to the internet (maybe postpartum brain is to blame a bit, ha!).

Running an online business requires a certain skill set that doesn't necessarily come naturally to me. The actual coaching part comes very naturally, but not the business side.

Truthfully, I was very frustrated in the beginning. I didn't want to go through the painful learning process again. But that's how you achieve your goals.

I love helping women get healthy and live adventurous lives. If I want to do that in this online space, I have to learn how to make reels and do marketing and all that other "fun" business stuff that can feel painstakingly slow to progress with in the beginning.

I'm telling you this story because it has taken me a solid nine months to gain traction again. I had to relearn a lot of stuff I forgot. I had to create a new rhythm of working on business tasks after not thinking about it for years. I had to learn how to make reels instead of just posting pictures (reels weren't even a thing when I left the internet).

In the beginning, progress can feel really, really frustratingly slow. Because of that, 95% of people quit and wait for the next flashy weight loss program to fix their problems.

The fact we must all face is that there is only one way up the mountain.

Whether you are building a business or trying to lose weight, you have to put in the hard work and grit to get where you want to go.

If I had thrown in the towel in those first few months, I wouldn't be celebrating new victories with clients today. If I had tried to avoid the work and taken shortcuts, I wouldn't have the momentum I have today.

You aren't always going to feel like making the healthier food choice, taking the walk instead of scrolling, or drinking the water instead of the soda, but that's what it's going to take to be that strong, energized, and healthy individual you've always wanted to be.

If you don't feel like going on your journey alone, I'm starting back up my most popular offering, the 8-week Summit Fit Group Challenge. If you want 20% off, you can click here to get on the waitlist and get first priority.

There's something about going through a program with other people that helps us gain momentum faster than going at it alone. But don't take my word for it. Check out the page I linked above to read what my students have to say.

I'm excited to be back in the blogging space, sharing about all things nutrition, fitness, & adventure.

Talk soon.

Stay Adventurous,

-Rachel

P.S. Come say hi on Instagram and tell me what adventures you are up to this summer. We are now full-time RVers in the mountains, and I love hearing about the adventures other people are on in life!
